Some things I've noticed are that it does it when it is under heavy acceleration, if I put the vehicle in neutral it will whine when I rev it up, and it will whine if I rev it up in park as well. Some background info on the car is mine is one of the Juke's that didn't require timing chain and tensioner replacement during the service campaign.

As mentioned before, revving it high (above 3500rpm) before the engine can warm up will cause some slight engine damage since the oil isn't flowing freely yet. Once the engine is warmed up, however, feel free to rev it. Keep in mind that revving it often is just like putting miles on the odometer...and beamers are expensive to fix. Probably turbo bearing and probably because the turbo bearing oil feed and oil return pipes are partially blocked with carbon. If I'm correct, the first job is to replace those pipes. If it still needs a new turbo, then you would need those new pipes anyway. Tags: owning.

Comments: Hi, I have a 1990 525i e34 m20 engine, I have replaced everything spark plugs/cables/all vacuum hoses that fuel injector fuel filter, basically everything fuel related, even the idle control valve, when I pull on the throttle body rev the engine initially i pull but the response hesitates then it kicks in and you hear it rev, i let it ...
High RPM and engine rev occurred; both feet on brake in attempt to keep car from advancing; put car in neutral and then park and engine stopped revving. And on 10/5/15 (damascus, md when brake ...
Sep 29, 2009 · Rep Power: 141517. from a stand still tap your accelerator to see where the threshold of your torque converter is. then left foot brake, add throttle (build RPM to that threshold), and let off brake, mash gas. that's how you launch AT's. dont hold the throttle too long as your torque converter will heat up.

The transmission was not disconnected from the engine, the engine just got lifted a little bit to replace the mounts. Also, the bolts on the rear u-joint were tightened because they were very loose but the sound is coming from the front even in neutral.
Oct 21, 2019 · So the noise does not happen at idle or when revving the engine in neutral? Just trying to help you isolate a possible engine noise from a driveline noise.. I've never had a wheel bearing whine. They typically start to make a whirring noise during certain driving conditions, then worsen to a rumble or roaring noise like driving on tank treads.

Nov 21, 2003 · WRT the whine at WOT, could be the same vacuum leak, the belts and/or the water pump. If it's a vacuum leak and you locate/fix that, then you'll know whether that eliminated the noise or not. For the belts, try a little belt dressing (available at any auto store) just be very judicious and follow the directions so you don't over "wet" the belt(s).
-2.4 i4 engine.-Sound can be heard when revving the engine in Park and Neutral.-Sound is most audible when starting from a stop and running through 1st-3rd gear (while running from 1k-3k rpm)-Sound is very audible (echoes) in parking garages and tunnels. YOUTUBE LINKS:
The whine is different from the power steering noise. The easiest way do tell the difference is to shift into neutral while driving if the noise goes away it's in the transmission. Give the throttle a few 3k revs and if the noise dissapears it's the trans. Shift back into drive and the noise returns. Back into neutral noise gone.
Jun 22, 2015 · When I'm in drive but stopped, say at a red light, my engine and car vibrates pretty violently. If i switch it to neutral or park, it stops instantly. I'm thinking it may be the transmission mount but I don't want to buy a new one if that's not the problem. Has anyone had a similar issue with...

  • Dec 25, 2020 · If you hear a whining noise that increases with the engine speed when your vehicle is in park or neutral may indicate a problem with the transmission pump; Minor transmission problems can escalate over time and could result in an expensive repair if left unchecked. Don’t let this happen to you.
  • I press in clutch, rev, downshift, all is good. Engine is responsive and revs quick. But like I said above, if you put it in neutral, let clutch up and say are coasting to a stop, whatever, try revving it with clutch fully up. Thing won't rev or so there is no misunderstanding, the rev is night and day in terms of quickness/responsiveness.
  • hey, new to this site, I just picked up an Arctic Blue 2002 Type-S for my girlfriend today. just a tad under 100k miles. I drove it 300 miles home and the entire time, it just seemed like it ran kind of harsh. it seemed to have somewhat of a low/dull whine to it when the engine was at any speed...
  • Jan 22, 2008 · Vehicle are made very sturdy. A little rev is not going to cause damage. Now if you rev it up while in park or neutral for an extended amount of time (3 secs or anything more), may cause damage, explosion, or life-lost of the engine. But the main thing is to listen for any abnormal sounds coming from your vehicle, because anything is possible.
  • May 10, 2017 · 4. Broken Engine Mounts. This is the rubber suspensions that an engine is mounted upon to lessen vibrations. A broken mount means that your car’s engine will be rested on the body and this will result in noticeable vibrations. The simplest way to confirm broken mounts is to put the car on neutral and try to see if the vibration continues.

Jan 05, 2018 · If I’m with you, it’s me. Cold rubber belts get stifff, and rigid and squeak or squeal because they can get no grip, cold rubber on cold steel. Once it warms a bit, it should go away.

Jul 28, 2008 · FWIW, I had a '96 Olds Cutlass with the 3.4L Twin Cam engine. It had a neutral rev limiter at 4,000rpm. Engine would just cut out at that point. I guess to protect from accidental full throttle reving or high rev neutral drops into gear. The redline on that engine was in the 6,500 rpm range. Ed B.

Best acceleration would be achieved by changing gears at the engine revs just past the maximum torque is achieved, depending on the next gear ratio. Drivers over-revving simply make more noise, wear more components and waste more fuel without achieving a performance gain. 5.
